This is, indeed an F-body Firebird Trans Am 2-door stationwagon. This means a big V8 up front, a hatch door, and loads of room for your luggage. Because why not? The price. It was considered too expensive for what it would have to offer. Again.
Because somewhere at the beginning of the seventies, this clay model was made. It is indeed a nother F-body car, this time being the second-gen Camaro. As you can see, this car also has 2 doors and an almost vertical rear end. It also shares the panoramic roof behind the B-pillar. What do you think: Should these cars have been made, or are you glad they did not reach production?

Good question. On one hand it dilutes a "sporty" name with a less sporty version (in theory). But on the other hand, enthusiasts need to haul stuff, and this would allow for some more of that.
I sort of like my Pulsar NX (my first car) which allowed you to swap out the hatch for a, um, bigger hatch.

No.
If they had sold, we wouldn't have got some of the badass V8 sedans that came in the late 70s and late 90s, I imagine, and it would have really cheapened the design when later on they would deliberately design the cars to be hatches, with coupes/notches being a premium model.
It's much better than it happened the right way: With hatchback muscle cars being their own models. It's just unfortunate that we ended up with the Vega and Pinto as those models.
I can always choose to take a multiple trip or break things up. Sometimes, beauty is worth sacrificing utility.

There's a company that is converting a '69 Camaro into a Wagon. And they make it sound like they'll be doing more.
